How to unblock Discord in Philippines

Philippines has blocked Discord since Sep 2026. A VPN sends your connection through another country so the block no longer applies. This guide uses Proton VPN.

Short answer

Use Proton VPN, connect to Singapore, then open Discord.

We picked Proton VPN because it's the best fit for Discord here: swiss-based with open-source apps and a free tier, plus a Stealth protocol for restrictive networks.

Try Proton VPN

Why Discord doesn't work in Philippines

Discord has been blocked in Philippines since Sep 2026. Blocked on major carriers while talks continue.

Discord has been blocked on Globe, Smart-PLDT and DITO since 22 September 2026, and Binance has been blocked since 2024.

Is a VPN legal in Philippines? Legal. VPNs are legal.

Step by step with Proton VPN

  1. Install and sign in

Install Proton VPN on the phone or computer where you use Discord, then sign in.

  2. Check the protocol

Leave the protocol on Smart (the default) for the best speed.

  3. Connect to a nearby server

Connect to a server in Singapore, Japan or Taiwan. Discord works normally in these countries, and nearby servers are faster.

  4. Open Discord and join a voice channel

Text should load first. Voice uses a different connection, so if voice fails, reconnect the VPN to another server.

  5. Leave the VPN on

Keep Proton VPN connected while you use Discord. If you disconnect, the block applies again.

Tip: Discord voice is sensitive to distance: pick the nearest server that works.

Try Proton VPN

If it still doesn't work

  • Try another server in the same country.
  • Turn off your browser's or phone's "private DNS" setting if it overrides the VPN.
  • Force-close Discord and open it again after the VPN connects.

Or try another VPN
