What's going on
The new government unblocked dozens of websites in January 2025. As sanctions eased, Apple's App Store returned in September 2025 and Google Play became reachable without a VPN in January 2026. Many services still refuse Syrian users: as of September–October 2026, Netflix, Prime Video, ChatGPT and PayPal remained unavailable, and Spotify worked for listening but blocked new sign-ups.
