Real vs virtual: what it means for you
A server in the country gives the best speed for local sites and the most reliable local IP. A virtual location still shows sites a Sudan IP address, so it works for most local services and prices, but traffic travels to the real server first, and that country's laws apply to the hardware.
Using a VPN inside Sudan: Legal. No functioning VPN regulation; connectivity itself is the problem.
Questions people ask
Does any VPN have servers in Sudan?
None of the six VPNs we track lists a server physically in Sudan. Proton VPN offers a virtual Sudan location: you get an IP address registered to Sudan, but the server sits in another country.
What is a virtual server location?
A virtual location gives you an IP address registered to the country you pick, while the server itself runs in a nearby country with better infrastructure. Sites usually see you as being in that country, but speed depends on the real location, and data is handled under that country's laws.
Can I get a Sudan IP address with a VPN?
Yes, with Proton VPN.
