What's going on
Equatorial Guinea blocked Facebook and TikTok at the start of September 2026, after a viral video accused Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang of corruption. Since November 2024, people have been barred from downloading photos and videos on WhatsApp over mobile data. The island of Annobón has been cut off from mobile and internet services since July 2024, and the government has suspended Starlink.
